Drop Point Hunter with Spalted Koa
This is the perfect little drop point hunter. In my opinion they are the perfect size for an all around hunting/ skinning knife. it is small enough to carry easily but big enough to clean any wild game. This knife, just like all other knives out of my shop are completely hand forged and finished by me alone from start to finish in my shop from high carbon 80CRV2 steel. This particular knife has a drop point blade and a premium example of Spalted Koa for the handle. if you follow exotic woods, you know that Spalted Koa is exceedingly rare. The blade is 4-1/8” long while the overall length is 8-3/4”. This knife also comes with a hand tooled and hand sewn full grain leather sheath with an ambidextrous design that will allow you to carry it horizontally on either hip in forward or reverse draw fashion. This hunter also features antiqued Silicon bronze guard and collar and a finely detailed stainless steel rope pattern spacer that has been blackened.
I am very proud to have recently earn my Master Smith ranking with the American Bladesmith Society. That being the case I am now one of only 117 Master Bladesmiths in the world and this blade does feature my new Master Smith (M.S.) mark.
The new trend in the custom knife maker world seems to be to have a steel supplier water jet out a blade blank and then send it to someone else to grind and heat treat. By the time the (maker) receives the blade the only thing remaining to in order to finish the knife is to add the makers mark and install the pre-shaped handle scales. I personally don’t believe in (making) knives this way. I believe that every step of the process of making the knives I build, and sell should be done one hundred percent by me and with my hands alone in order to get my makers maker’s mark. You don’t have to agree with me, but I simply believe that if a customer is buying a knife from a custom maker, it should be a knife that is hand forged and hand finished by that maker alone
